It started raining in the middle of the night and it rained all morning and part of the afternoon. The heaviest rain came around 6:30 this morning. I wish we had a rain gauge because we got a lot of rain.
Donkey did not come to work today because it rained so the compound was quiet. We got a lot of work done because we had no interruptions. Steve finished the monthly report and I got it edited. I spent all morning working on the books, entering receipts and making sure everything tallied. After Steve finished the report he helped me with the receipts. It sure is good to have that behind us for another month.
I even had time to work on my new quilt top this afternoon which always makes me happy; fabric and sewing are my one weakness! Ha!
It rained so long that we missed our walk. I thought we might walk this afternoon but by the time it stopped raining it was time to cook supper. Since it was raining the electricity was off and on today. It even went off after it stopped raining which is very annoying!
I forgot to tell you that Tichak, one of the watchmen, is back at work. We tried to get him to go to the hospital to have his foot x-rayed but he decided not to. He said that his foot is better and the stitches will be removed soon from his calf. He said that he is still having some pain and asked for Ibuprofen tonight when he came to work. His English is not all that good so it took us a moment to figure out what he was asking for; he kept saying, “I need “Bu-fin” for my leg; I forgot my “Bu-fin” in my house. His English is much better than our Konkomba.
Steve had to replace one of the security lights this afternoon. They are not sealed very well even though they are rated for outdoor use; the bulbs are so cheaply made and they allow rain to get inside them.

I did not sleep much last night because the rain disturbs me! I find it difficult to sleep in the new box the parents made me! The rain is so scary and once I get wet I am so cold that I can’t sleep! I was so sleepy after last night that I took 3 naps today. Twice I did not even have to go to sleep with Mom or Dad; I just laid down on a piece of Mom’s clothes and put myself to sleep. I hope it does not rain tonight so I can get a good night’s sleep!
I hurt myself today! Dad was walking into the bedroom / office with a freshly made cup of coffee. I did not know what was in his cup but I knew it had to be something to eat. When he passed by me I jumped up on his arm and stuck my hand in the steaming hot coffee! I did not know something could be so hot! I quickly removed my hand and started shaking it about! It hurt so bad! Have you ever been burned? How in the world can Dad drink something that is that hot?
I had to have a bath in the middle of the day today! When I was put back in jail just before lunch I was not happy that it was still raining so I made laps around and around trying to figure out how to get out of the rain! In the process I got all wet, smelly and nasty. As soon as Mom got me out she took me straight to the bathroom! Not happy about that!
Coffee is not for me!
