We spent the afternoon working on the books and entering receipts. I use a mouse when I am working. I did not realize that the little mouse pad thingy on the laptop was on and somehow I rested my hand on it and strange things started happening to the Excel program. At one point the tool bar was locked up. After we got that back on the program it would not do the addition and subtraction to get the running totals. Very aggravating! We finally called Marcus and Charity. Then we sent them a copy of the program so they can try to fix it for us. The problem is that the Excel program is the 2007 version which might not be compatible with what they are running. We have been running the program since 2007 with no serious problems. Hopefully they can figure out what went wrong.
We were scheduled to go to Kpande this morning but last night Timothy Niligrini’s older brother died. Timothy had to be with the family to prepare everything for the burial and to get the body to the village. We worshipped with Kulkpeni this morning. They had an abbreviated service because the brothers were going to go out to the village and help Timothy with the burial. They usually bury the body immediately and then have the funeral 3 or 4 days later. After that they will have a bigger funeral during the next dry season. This will give the family time to gather additional money so they can buy an animal to kill so they can share meat with those that attend. Funerals are a costly affair! The church members were going to contribute a little money and buy some soft drinks to help with the funeral. We added some money to the gift the church was taking. Later we will give Timothy some additional money to help with the cost of the casket or whatever he needs. Funerals are a costly affair whether you are in the states or in a third world country.
The lights went off a little while ago; a storm is brewing; we can hear the thunder in the distance. We will probably be without lights for a portion of the night. We don’t have to worry because we have a generator.
Hope you had a nice Lord’s Day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
