We started passing out clothes this morning to the children that come to the Child Center.  It was a cloudy overcast day that threatened rain so the mothers were slow to come out but we are sure that by tomorrow word will have gotten out about the clothes and the mothers will come.  We had not planned on giving out clothes until later in the year because we thought that we would be working on building the training center and that would take up all of our time.  Since we have a lull for at least 1 month we decided that this would be a good time to distribute the clothes.  Tomorrow we will get Mr. Iddrisu to come to the Center to help with the new cards and the interpretation.  He was out of pocket today because it is the first of the month and he had to pay the GRA and Social Security tax and spend far too long at the bank waiting in line.  We are proud that he was doing that instead of us!

It started raining at 3:00 this afternoon and has been raining off and on ever since.  I am wet because I went out in the yard while it was raining to see how the yard was draining and see if the water was running into the gutters.  I found several places that needed to be dug out so I got the pick ax and diverted the water.  I could not hold the umbrella and use the pick ax at the same time hence the reason I am wet.  I don’t mind being wet and the rain was not cold.  Everything is draining much better now and I have identified a couple places that need to be built up with gravel.  That will be a good job for Donkey tomorrow.

Last night at Bible study Timothy told us that on his way to his house yesterday after going with us to Duuni he came upon an accident.  A little 4 or 5 year old child had been struck by a vehicle and died.  He said that the driver never saw the child.  The child and the mother were on one side of the road and a fight broke out on the other side of the road; the mother ran across the road to see what was going on with the fight and the child darted out after her and was struck by a vehicle.  Here in Ghana if there is an accident that involves a person the driver has to be very careful and run because the bystanders will blame the driver and they will beat him; sometimes kill them and most times they will destroy the vehicle.  The driver of this accident fled because he told Timothy that he was going to pick up the child in his vehicle and take them to the hospital but he looked up and saw the mob forming grabbing sticks, stones and anything they could use to attack him so he ran.  He gave the vehicle to one of his relatives and hid; the mob found the vehicle; pulled out the driver; beat him and destroyed the vehicle.  A mob is a dangerous thing!

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work in Ghana; we really appreciate the help.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie
