Marcus and Evan are at the airport waiting for the first leg of their flight home! We surely will miss them and the extra help! I should have had Evan write the Yendi Notes before we took them to the airport!
We spent the morning shopping! Shopping is my one weakness! We had a successful buying trip. Marcus and Evan had a list of what they were looking for which made the shopping much easier. Evan found a Samurai type sword which he fell in love with. It took a bit of negotiating to get it for a decent price. When we got back to the hotel to pack the things we bought we found out that the sword was too long to fit in the suitcase. We told Evan that we would bring it home for him when we come home next month.
After our shopping expedition we went to a restaurant called “Frankie’s”. Frankie’s has a variety of food. Steve and I had Lebanese food, Evan had Chinese and Marcus had American (he had a hamburger and French fries); the food was good! The rooms that we stay in at the hotel / apartment are on the second and third floors. We leave the suitcases that we do not need in the manager’s office so we do not have to lug them up all those flights of stairs. This afternoon when we needed the suitcase we could not get into the office; the manager and the assistant had left the building and had taken the keys with them. We called Ben, the manager and he called the assistant who brought the key. We were supposed to leave the hotel at 4:30 and we were still packing at 4:15. We made it to the airport in time to be the first people in line to check in but someone cut in line in front of us. Such is life in Ghana!
Delta airline asks the passengers to be at the airport 5 hours before take off! That is a long time to be at the airport. It takes a long time to get the passengers ready to board the plane. Many of them have no way to weigh their bags and they do not understand that food, dried fish, fresh fruit and vegetables are not allowed into the United States so there is a lot of repacking of bags and throwing away things that are banned. Fortunately, Marcus and Evan got through without any problem except that something made Evan set off the metal detector so he had to be “frisked”! After they passed through the customs check point he called to let us know he had been worked over and that they found nothing! Ha!
Marcus and Evan have a long trip in front of them; they will not be in Huntsville, Alabama until 2:00pm Alabama time on Sunday afternoon. They have a short layover in Amsterdam and another in Atlanta. We will head back to Yendi tomorrow afternoon.
Please pray for safe travels for them!
In HIS Service,
Steve, Kandie, Marcus, Evan and Skeeter
