It is raining and the electricity is off but the generator is on!  What a wonderful sound!  We did more laundry today and the sun shone almost all day.

Red, the part time driver / handy man brought the truck bed liner this afternoon.  Surprise, surprise it did not fit.  Red argued with us he felt sure that since it was off a Mitsubishi truck it had to fit any Mitsubishi truck.  We tried to explain that different models had different size beds.  He worked on it for several hours trying to force it into the truck.  There are no return policies here in Ghana.  I went out to check on the progress and the bed liner is about 2 inches taller than the bed of the truck.  I told him that if he forced it in the truck it would buckle and crack.  I suggested that if he wanted to use that liner he would need to build a 2 inch frame to support the edges of the liner.  Two inch square pipe is available in Yendi.  We got a scrap piece out of the storage room to see if it would work and sure enough it was just the right height.  Red was so happy!  He said, “Sister Kandie, you are a good foreman; you can think fast, fast!”  I think that was a compliment.

Our neighbor, Mr. Oldman,  stopped by for a visit this morning.  He keeps pretty close tabs on us; he knew we had returned to Ghana because he has talked to Steve a couple times since we have been here.  Mr. Oldman has started a small business selling water and bottled soft drinks.  His shop is very close to his house.  When we need bagged water we will buy from him to help support his business.

Abinata, John Kanbonja’ widow, that Steve gave money to yesterday did not have enough money to buy the medicine the doctor prescribed but instead of coming back to the mission house she went to Red.  Red lives behind the pharmacy where she was getting the medicine.  Red said he could not understand her either and had to get the help of someone passing by to figure out how much more she needed.  We were happy that Red took care of it for us; we reimbursed him for the money he was out.  Abinata has HIV and if she would go to Yendi hospital instead of going to the clinic they would treat her for free but for whatever reason she would rather go to the clinic.

I started a new quilting project only to realize that I did not have enough Wonder Under to finish the quilt.  I have not been able to find it here in Ghana.  I will have to put this project on the back burner and start another one.

Steve finished the last chapter of the booklet and is now working on the table of contents.  He trimmed some of the trees this evening just before it started raining.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie
