Our travels took us back to the same area as we went last week; the village of Nadundo. Timothy

was spared again from having to drive into the town. We picked Timothy and his tailor apprentice , who is a church member, from his house and drove on to the village. If you recall from last week’s Notes I had promised two men from this congregation from Nadundo that I would come see how their building project was progressing.

Today was Nadundo’s time to host the joint service with the nearby congregations at Nalongni and Sobitido .   This gave us a chance to visit with three congregations at once. We met outside under a tree that had partially lost some of its leaves but gave enough shade and breeze to make it more tolerable than being in a building. One of the local men taught the bible class. His subject dealt with fear. My lesson title was “the House that God built”. The service was attended by 23 men, 38 women, and 94 children.

After the services we sat down with the men of the Nadundo Church and discussed their plans concerning their building project. They have made 1,400 cement blocks. We advised them to build their building narrower rather than wider because the wider the span the more likely the roof will collapse because the carpenters will use 2×4’s instead of 2×8’s to make the rafters.  We have seen roofs like this collapse in at least 3 cases in the past 5 years.  Of course we informed them we were only advising them so I hope they make a wise decision.  We also promised them we would purchase a dump truck of sand and they have to do the rest of the work until the roof is ready to put on.

We were excited when there were two teenage girls that requested baptism.  The river wasn’t so far.  We drove to the site where there was water. We were surprised when two teenage boys were added to the baptism list making a total of 4. The water was very muddy and just deep enough to get the people under the water.  This water hadn’t moved in months; in other words “stagnated”!! Each person had some mud on their rump because the river bed was mucky.   I said a prayer and we dropped the people off at the roadside before heading back toward Yendi.

That wraps up another day for us. It won’t be long before we leave for evening bible study at Kulkpeni so I will close.  Have a good day. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen & Kandie Taylor
