Something is wrong with the laptop.  I think I told you that we have not been able to get on the GRA (IRS) website since we have been in Ghana.  The GRA office called Steve this morning and told him the tech that is supposed to know something about computers was in the office and ready to help us.  Steve spent several hours in the office but they could not figure out what was going on.  Something obviously is conflicting with the program.  Steve has a plea to our nephew Kal who knows much about computers and has the ability to look into our computer remotely.  Hopefully he can shed some light on the problem.  Maybe we can hook up with him on Saturday.  Meanwhile the officer at GRA was very kind and filed both sets of taxes for us at their office so we are taken care of for another month.  We have a secondary computer that we could hook up but it does not have an anti-virus installed.  We may have to see about getting it up and running.

Steve and I walked to Yendi market for this morning instead of taking our regular walk.  We needed to go to the market early to buy beef.  We have to get there before the flies!  Ha!  The meat is not refrigerated and we want to have the first pick, so we can get some of the tender cuts.  The cows are skinned, gutted and stretched out in quarters on cement tables.  We wanted fillets but only got 2; of course they try to tell me other cuts of meat are fillets but really when you can only see one full cow divided amongst the tables you know there are only 2 inside fillets and 2 outside fillets.  We needed lesser cuts of meat for stew meat and to grind into hamburger.  The butchers do not trim the meat so we get lots of stuff that our hand grinder cannot grind and lots of trimmings.  We give all the stuff that we do not want to the workers and they are delighted!

We did not walk back from the market because we had walked much more than our allotted time so we hired a yellow- yellow (three wheeled taxi/scooter) to bring us back to the mission house.  There is no time to waste cleaning, trimming, cutting, grinding and tenderizing the meat once it is bought.  We needed to get it in the freezer as soon as possible.  It does not take long for meat to go south in this heat!  We bought 31 pounds of boneless beef this morning.  Once it was worked up we had 4 packages of ground beef, 2 packages of stew meat and 4 packages of steaks.  We prepared the beef in anticipation of our guests that will be coming.  Once they arrive we will be too busy to prepare meat.  Steve, Amama, Meri and I worked up the meat this morning; it took a couple hours to finish the job.

Zorash’s friend called and said that she got a new shipment of fabric seconds and wanted us to come take a look at them.  I really do not need any more fabric but I am on the hunt for red and green fabric that would make Christmas ornaments.  She had a couple yards that I think will work and I also found a piece of fabric for the back of the quilt I am working on.  She was disappointed that I did not buy more.  Ha!

Take care and enjoy your day!

The Monkeyshines

I tried to help with the meat preparation this morning but Mom said I was more of a hindrance than a help.  The biggest problem is that Meri and her little boy Hakeem were inside the mission house.  Both of them are afraid of me and I can’t help jumping at them just to hear them holler!  Silly people!  You would think that I was big enough to eat that little boy!  He whines more than I do!  Today he was rolling all over the floor in the kitchen; I at least was smart enough to sit on the stool in the kitchen.  Mom put me outside and let me play in the trees.

I played outside for a long time until Mom could not see me.  I had left the big mango tree and ventured around the back of the house, climbed the stairs and was walking around on the roof.  When Mom realized I was not in the mango tree she went into “Find Skeeter Mode”!  I could hear her calling me but was in no hurry to see why she was calling me; I was not lost; I knew where I was!”  When Dad caught me he took me back to my jail cell because he did not want to have to worry about what I was doing!   That ended my fun for the morning!

I am an acrobat!
