I overslept this morning!  We only set an alarm if it is Sunday or we are going to have to get up extremely early to go somewhere.  I slept until 7:00 which was rather annoying!  I guess I was making up for yesterday when I got up at 4:30 and started washing clothes and mopping floors.  Because we got up so late Steve let us forgo our walk.  We went straight out and started raking and burning leaves.

We spent the afternoon working on the books and entering receipts.  We have to get all the taxes ready to pay by the 10th; before we can work on the taxes we have to get all the receipts entered.  Mr. Iddrisu is the one that actually pays the taxes for us.  He never complains about standing in the long lines.  We used to just go to the Social Security office and pay them directly but because of corruption they changed it; now you go to the Social Security office present the payroll, get a receipt, go to the bank, pay, get a receipt then go back to the Social Security office with proof of payment and get the receipt stamped.  Makes my eyes twitch just thinking about it!  The Ghana government said that in June of this year they are going to have a similar procedure for paying the IRS each month.  They have not announced which bank will be receiving the payments; we are hoping that it will be a bank that has a branch in Yendi.

Warihana’s father came to the mission house.  If you remember Warihana is the young lady that has Osteomyelitis.  She had the surgery and her father brought her back to Yendi.  He came to bring us the receipt for the surgery and let us read the doctor’s report and instructions.  Her leg is in a cast and she is not to bare any weight on that leg for 1 month.  She is not even supposed to use crutches or try to stand.  That is going to be a very long 4 weeks!  Warihana’s father only had enough money to buy 2 tablets of the medicine that the doctor prescribed.  Of course we gave him the rest of the money that he needed. Maybe this surgery will work. The doctor said that he removed the infected bone from the leg and is now waiting for the bone to knit back together.

Without your help and generosity we would not be able to help these people who have no means of helping themselves. Of course many of these procedures are not covered under the Health Insurance Scheme. Yes, that is really the name of their health insurance. Gives me great confidence in the system! Ha!

Take care and have a lovely day!
