It rained heavily last night and it was still trying to drizzle when it was time to leave this morning so I called Timothy and told him we would come pick him up . Riding a motorcycle in the rain is no fun. We visited the congregation at Duuni this morning. The village is located south of Yendi about 15 miles.
Brother Francis, one of the church leaders and an evangelist, had suggested that we speak about the independence of the Church. When we arrived Francis met at the building. Because of the rain services were slow getting started. We had a good worship service. Timothy taught the bible class and then interpreted for me during the preaching. We took the Church one of the metal communion tables with the tablecloth and lace. The Church was very glad for the gifts that we brought to them. There were 142 present for the service. It is one of the bigger congregations that we work with.
After services I gave Brother Francis a bag of crocheted hats. Oh, how the mothers and children were eager to have one of the hats!
We were asked to visit an old man in the village who cannot walk. When we entered the room we found a very thin old looking man sitting on several pieces of 2 inch foam they use for a mattress. All he had around his midsection was a piece of cloth. He had a hump on his lower back and he explained he couldn’t feel his legs although he could move his toes. The family requested help for him to be more mobile; it had been five years since he had walked. We promised to purchase a wheelchair so the family can move him around the compound without having to carry him. After having prayer with him we left his compound.
The church was so good to us. The men all pitched in and gave us 20 tubers of yams from their farms along with a rooster. We took 4 of the yams and gave Timothy everything else. He was a happy camper!
Tonight at Kulkpeni I taught the kids a short lesson about Philip the apostle. The kids can now recite
Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, and Thomas.
That’s about it for today. Sure hope you have a nice Labor Day holiday. May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
