We had to take the old van this morning to visit the congregation at Tamanbiya since the tie rod broke on the green pickup yesterday. I didn’t hear anything from Gomda, the mechanic today so it may be several days before the pickup is fixed.

Our trip to Tamanbiya today was a suggestion by one of the evangelists who travels around in the area trying to help the congregations.  It has been a long time since we visited this congregation; before the pandemic. The church members were happy to receive the new metal table and gifts that we brought. There was enough time for us to go see the old chief. When I say “old” I am not exaggerating. This man was old 20 years ago when we first came to Yendi. He is blind and mostly deaf. He was still happy to get his kola (money).

From the chief’s house we returned to the building where Joshua, one of the church leaders, gave the schedule of worship.  I was asked to speak so I taught a lesson from Matthew 18:15-18 about going to your brother if there is a problem.  All of this is to be done with love just as Jesus taught the Samaritan woman at the well.

The ride back to Yendi was much hotter than the morning trip.  We sure did miss the air conditioning that we have in the green pickup!

March 6th is Ghana’s day of independence. The country was among some of the first African countries to win her independence in March of 1957. Ghana was a British colony while all the countries around her are French.

One of the ways the locals celebrate the holiday is a marching competition. There are so many schools in Yendi they have to divide the schools in half and alternate the marching to every other year. People turn out in huge numbers to watch the marching students every 6th March. Today was no exception.

Late in the day we got some good news about the toddler that had the hernia operation. She has recovered enough to be discharged.  There were a few bills needed to be paid so we met Zorash and she carried the money to the father. Her post surgery checkup can be done right here in Yendi which really makes things easier on the family. Thanks for the money for “whatever comes up”. It really came in handy for this child.

Have a great day! May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
