We are on our way back from Tamale. We have the computer in the truck with us so I decided to make good use of the time by writing the Notes. The road is rough so please excuse any errors!
We had a mostly successful day. We were not able to pick up the paperwork from the Registrar General’s office but that was not really a surprise since they are on strike. We also did not get the new tires of the red truck that were being sent up from Kumasi. They were supposed to be in Tamale by 10:00 this morning; they still had not arrived at 2:00 and no one knew for sure if they would be on the truck or not. We needed to get back to Yendi so Steve collected the vendor’s phone number and we will call him the next time we are going to be in Tamale.
I just have to complain about Japan Motors; the place that services the vehicles. We have yet to figure out what takes them so long to change the oil and filters. We were at the bank waiting to cash a check when Japan Motors called. We were hopeful that they had finished the van; but that was not the case. They said that the back shocks needed to be changed. Steve gave them the go ahead to change them but we knew we were in for a longer than normal wait! We had the first appointment of the day for the truck. We dropped it off at 7:30 this morning and they did not finish with it until a few minutes before 12:00.
While we were waiting we went to the culture center and did some shopping; did I mention that shopping is my one weakness? We bought some gifts and of course I bought a couple things for myself! I found some beautiful fabric but the vendor would not sell it to me because they were going to use it to make a shirt to sell. It seems to me that it would make more sense to raise the price of the fabric and sell it than it would to make a shirt and wait for someone to want the shirt and want the size of the shirt that you made. They could always buy another piece of fabric to make a shirt from.
We hunted all around for ink cartridges but did not find the ones we needed. We decided to take a walk just to get our exercise for the day and we stumbled upon a small shop that only sold ink and toner cartridges. They had hundreds of different types of ink. We found both black and color for both of the printers! We were very excited to find this new place.
Before we left Tamale we stopped and got something to eat. We ate late so I will not have to worry about fixing something for supper! Lucky me! And now that I have written the Yendi Notes I will have a free evening. I am sure that I will find something to fill my time.
Hope the Notes find you well and happy!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
