We were pleased that Mr. Iddrisu was well enough to come back to work today.  He is still coughing and his voice sounds strange but at least he is up and going again.  Donkey also came back to work today; he had been down in the Volta Region with the Ya-Na and his elders.  I thought that they went for a meeting but they went to help the Volta Region celebrate a festival that is similar to the  Damba celebration the people in our area celebrated a little while ago.  Donkey said that it took the group a long time to get to where they were going because the drivers had never been there before, they were traveling at night and they got lost.  There is a barge that crosses one of the rivers on the way to the Volta region; they were late getting to the river and the barge was not operating so they had to sleep a while until the ferry man and crew could get there to take them across the river.  Donkey said that it took about 30 minutes to get across the river. The

Ya-Na took a cargo truck so he could take his horses with him.  When they got to the parade grounds the horses were off loaded and the Ya-Na’s horse men rode the horses; Ya-Na had men that were carrying a huge umbrella over his head to keep him out of the sun.

We had to go to Tamale this morning but we did not leave too early because we only had a couple things to do.  We dropped off the annual Social Welfare report; the officer in charge of the reports said that we came at the perfect time because they were preparing a package of documents to send to Accra so ours would go out right away.  Before we could drop off the report it had to be bound.  This year we did not have to have passport photos because it was just a renewal; not a new registration.  We have been renewing the Child Center license for over 20 years and we have always had to send in passport photos.  But maybe the computer captured our photos this time.

We also took the Social Security pay schedule for next year to the Enterprise office.  We are able to pay in advance for next year which saves us lots of trips to and from Tamale.   We need to get the validation code so we can pay at the bank.  She said that the code would come in 48 hours.  Yes, we have heard this all before.  But this time she said that once the code comes to their office it has to be resubmitted because the code is only a one time code for one month.  The second time it comes back it will allow us to pay for the whole year.  The whole thing is exhausting.  She assured us that it would not take as long this time as it did the last time.  We are not holding our breath!

Hope you have a great day.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie

P.S.  Please say a special prayer for our friend Floyd; he is having some health issues and would love all the prayers he can get.
