We are in Tamale. We have almost run out of money. We kept waiting for the man from the Registrar General’s office to call and tell us our documents were ready but he has failed us for the last 3 weeks. When Steve contacted him this week he said that their building was having electrical issues and they were not able to print documents but he assured us that as soon as the electrical problem is solved we will get them. I have to say the man is very good with excuses!
We did get the taxes paid after 3 trips to the office to make sure that we were doing everything correctly. When Steve got to the bank yesterday afternoon it was 30 minutes before closing time and the teller refused to wait on him and told him to come back tomorrow. Can you imagine how annoyed someone in the states would be if they were at the bank 30 minutes before closing time and the teller refused to wait on them? We sent Mr. Iddrisu back this morning; he had to pay the Social Security tax too. He was successful in paying both but he was told that in the future we have to make 2 copies of the tax invoice so they will have one for their office. It would be a shame if they had to use their copy machine and make their own copy!
Red spent the day welding and working on the grates for the wall. He was totally pooped when he stopped working at 4:00! He could not even have a drop of water. Mr. Iddrisu said that he got up this morning at 3:00 so he could eat breakfast before he went to the mosque for the morning prayers. This afternoon I found him sleeping in the Child Center. Even Meri was so tired this morning that she found a corner of the Child Center and laid down to take a nap in between seeing patients. They are exhausted already and this is on the 4 day of the fasting!
Zorash is sick. She did not come to work yesterday because she had a bad headache and felt awful. She is worse today and went to see the doctor. He thinks that she has Typhoid again but we figure she has Covid. The doctor gave her Ciprofloxacin to take and it made her vomit.
It started raining a few minutes ago and we had to move the bed because the ceiling is leaking and it is dripping on the bed.
