Nazo’s wife is feeling better and it is easier for her to breathe.   Red called and said that indeed he does have malaria.  Hopefully he will be feeling better soon.  Nothing was said about his blood pressure; I guess they figure that it was high because he has malaria.

Divine, the evangelist/ farmer stopped by twice today.  The first time he brought a lady with him.  The lady lives in the same village as Divine.  Her 10 or 11 year old son had gotten a snake bite last week while we were at the seminar.  She had to borrow money to buy the ASV (anti-snake venom medicine).  Divine told Steve about the case while we were still at the seminar; Steve promised to pay for the ASV when we got back to Yendi.  The lady was very happy to get the money and be free from the debt.  The boy is doing fine now.  Our thanks go out to those of you who give us money for ASV and “whatever comes up”.

The second time Divine came was to give us an update on the murder case.  He said that the men still remain in custody and they are interrogating them trying to piece all the case together.  There is still a heightened awareness with the police in the area.

It rained most of the afternoon; I must confess that the rain hitting the tin roof was very soothing and I took a nap.  It was lovely!

We tried to work on the Child Center books this afternoon but we found a discrepancy of 4 Cedis which is about 40 cents.  Then the program locked up and it would not let me save the work.  I had to shut it down without being able to save our progress!  Very annoying!  By that time our brains were fried so we just put it down and started fixing supper.  We will attack them again in the morning when we are fresher!

A grandmother brought her grandchild who was close to a year old to the Center and wanted us to start the child on formula.  At first we thought the baby was an orphan but then we found out that the mother had a boil on her arm that got infected and it caused her whole arm to swell up.  The family refuses to take her to the hospital because they believe if you take a person with a boil to the hospital and they give the patient an injection the patient will die!  The family is letting the Juju man (witchdoctor) treat the swollen arm and it is not getting better; imagine that!  The grandmother refused to even think about going to the doctor.  The child was too old for formula so we gave them some weaning mix and vitamins.

Thank you for your help!

Steve and Kandie
