We are safely back in Yendi. We got here around 4:30. I sure am happy that we decided to spend the night in Tamale. Not only was the Indian food delicious but we were not so exhausted as we would have been if we had made the trip in one day.
We got almost everything marked off of our list today. We picked up the audit and were pleased that it had already been filed; the RGD (Registrar General Dept) was unable to print the receipt. We stopped by to check on our documents and found out that their offices were still without power. The manager was sitting outside under a shade tree trying to stay cool. I guess the guy that is trying to help us get the documents was not exaggerating when he said they had been without power for days. It appears to only be in their building because all the other offices and stores we were in had electricity.
When we got to the bank we were the second people in line but there was only one teller working and he said that we had to sit and wait for him to organize things so he could serve us. He pulled 3 or 4 people in front of us and waited on them. At one point Steve leaned over and asked, “How can he organize our transaction when he keeps helping everyone else?” Good question with no answer.
We had time to do a little shopping; we needed communion juice and we have not been able to get it in Yendi since the shop we normally buy from closed. We had no luck finding the ink cartridges for our color printer.
My brother Paul sent a camera with us that was to be given to his friend / interpreter, Enoch. This is the first time we have been to Tamale and remembered to take the camera with us. We dropped it off at the bus station; they will give it to the driver that is going to Takoradi. Once the camera gets to Takoradi they will call Enoch and he will go to the bus station and pick it up. They have quite the shipping system going on! I guess it is pretty reliable. The postal system here is rather slow.
Zorash had to go to the hospital; they admitted her and gave her drips (IVs)and medicine. They now say that her problem is her ulcer. We told her that an ulcer does not cause a headache. We told her to try to get them to test her for Covid; they gave her antibiotics and malaria medicine. They discharged her today; she has to go back tomorrow to pay the hospital bill because she did not have the money to pay it today. We will help her with the bill.
Take care and have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
