The baby with the growth on the side of her face went back to Tamale to the doctor again today.  We still do not have a diagnosis as to what is wrong with the child.  The last time they went the doctor removed part of the fluid; they are going to do the same procedure today.  The family did not have enough money to cover the cost of the procedure so we sent them mobile money.  They will spend the night tonight in Tamale and return tomorrow hopefully with a diagnosis.

Red spent the whole day working on Paul’s truck.  He had to add some additional metal to cover the space between the tailgate and the cab.  A person could stick their whole arm in the space; nothing would be safe if it was left in the cab.  Red was almost finished when he broke the handle that lowers the tailgate.  He dismantled the handle and took it to town to be repaired.  While he was waiting for it to be repaired he worked on one of the gutter covers in the front yard.  We have a gutter that catches excess rain water as it runs off the yard.  The cover is made of metal and it has lost a couple of the clips that hold it into place.  Red got that fixed.

We spent the whole morning at the Town and Country Planning office.  We want to put up a pavilion on the back of the property to use as a training center for the evangelists and the mothers that come to the Child Center.  Now that there is a lease for the land we are required to get a building permit for any structure that is put up on the property.  Well, we had a 3D drawing of what we wanted the pavilion to look like; complete with side views, roof view, floor plan, measurements, number of pillars, toilet and water placement and it was in “living color”.  This morning we met with the engineer and he introduced us to the architect; you can guess the rest of the story; they want us to use their architect for the plans instead of ours even though they could not really find any fault with our drawings.  We have to give the architect at least a week to complete the drawing; then they will be able to issue the building permit and tell us the final price.  Really, just shoot me now!

Dawda the mason went with us this morning; he was disappointed that we could not start work right away because he is in need of a job.  We decided to have him construct a gutter at the front of the Child Center to keep the rain from washing up on the veranda.  He is supposed to start the work tomorrow.  This afternoon we had Mr. Iddrisu start the motor king (3 wheeled motorcycle with a truck bed on the back) so that tomorrow he and Donkey (Nazo) could start hauling gravel, sand and cement blocks from the back of the property for the mason.  We were surprised that the motor king started; we really thought we were going to have to get Solomon the mechanic to come and get it started.

Take care!
