Half of the ceiling in one of the bedrooms in the apartment fell down.  This ceiling tile is about 6 inches wide and 14 feet long.  It interlocks together.  Earlier this year some of the ceiling tile fell down that was on the veranda.  The carpenters came to put it back up and they broke 2 pieces.  We went to town but did not have any luck matching our tile.  A couple years ago when we had the tile put up after a new roof was put on the mission house we gave the left over pieces to Mr. Iddrisu.  We stopped by his house to see if he had any long pieces; he did not.  We will look for it the next time that we go to Tamale.  If we can’t find it the carpenters might just have to piece it together the best that they can.  I think that piecing it will look better than mixing different types of tile.

This afternoon we went to town to get cokes and bottled water.  We are having a difficult time finding real Coke and Sprite.  Companies all over Ghana are producing “knock off Coke products”.  They taste terrible!  They are called “Africa Cola”.  As we were leaving Mr. Iddrisu’s house we spied a vendor selling orange Fanta which is a Coke product.  We stopped to see if Fanta was the only Coke product she had.   We were pleased that she had real Coke and Sprite.  The Sprite was in a liter bottle which is bigger than we usually buy.  She had 3 packets of Coke.  We told her that we wanted to buy the Cokes and 1 Fanta.  She said she would not sell us all the Cokes because if she did she would not be able to sell the Fanta.  She said that the Fanta was not moving and that we should buy more Fanta.  I don’t need more Fanta.  Is that crazy or what?  Who runs a business like that?  Why would you miss out on a sale?  She said that she would sell us the large bottles of Coke which we did not want either.

Steve got the security cameras installed this afternoon.  They are not real cameras; they are dummies but they have a red blinking light and they look real.  We went with dummies because when we are gone there is no one that would be able to check them, delete data or keep a computer up and running.  I don’t think that a thief will know the difference; it is just a deterrent anyway.  We do have 4 real security cameras but they too are a pain to monitor.  Steve also put up signs with pictures of security cameras on the gates.  Steve put them up today because all the workers are out on holiday.  We don’t intend to tell anyone they are dummy cameras ;not even the workers.

We also brought in a couple dog barking alarms.  We will have to tell the night watchmen that they are just alarms because they will have to turn them on each night and off in the mornings.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

In His service,

Steve and Kandie
