We are safely back in Yendi! It is always good to get back safely especially when we have been to the bank. Sometimes we feel like we need an armored vehicle on the return trip. We got back well before dark which made us happy!
After we went to the bank we hunted down a new motorcycle helmet for Timothy. Steve did not want to give him the good helmet we have at the mission house. We also stopped by the insurance office and changed the motorcycle insurance out of Steve’s name into Timothy’s name. Everyone is supposed to have insurance but probably 90% of the people do not have it; why should we be surprised 90% of them are driving without a driver’s license. The majority of the people don’t have number tags for their motorcycles. If they get a spot fine they pay it and drive on. Of course those doing the checking are happy because they get to pocket a portion of the money they collect. In case you are wondering, Timothy has a driver’s license, so does Red and Mr. Iddrisu. They probably would not have one if we did not pay for them but we need Timothy and Mr. Iddrisu to have them so they can do banking stuff for the Child Center if we are not around.
While we were in Tamale we did some grocery shopping and I bought a used iron. I have not been happy with the new one I bought. I like lots of steam and lots of heat; hopefully this one will do the trick.
I went to the telephone office and picked up the cell phone I left there 3 weeks ago and to report that the desk phone was still not working. They put in another work order on the phone. This evening we got a message that the problem had been corrected. We tried the phone. We could call into the phone but we could not use the phone to call out. I called the guy that helped us and he said, “There seems to be a problem!” Really? We have not been able to use this phone since March of 2019! But at least the problem is ½ fixed. He is going to put in another work order.
I got quite a few quilt squares cut out as we were going back and forth to Tamale. The ones I am currently cutting are 2 inch squares. The quilt is going to have to have almost 1,600 squares. That is a lot of scrapes to cut. I am happy that I am able to use up some of the smaller pieces of scrap. Amama has been helping me size the pieces. She is working through the smaller scraps to find the ones that I can cut into a 2 inch square. The squares have to be hand cut because most of them are only big enough to produce 1 or 2 squares.
Steve is outside setting the new security light on the garage. It was shining right at the front gate. We know that when we come in after evening Bible study the light will blind us as we enter the compound. The light has a swivel base so it should be fairly easy to move.
Not much else going on so we will close for now; have a good evening.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
