I forgot to tell you that a couple days ago when I messed up the Excel program and everything locked up we called Marcus, our son-in-law, and our daughter Charity and together they were able to figure out the problem.  We actually sent them a copy of the spreadsheet and they were able to open it on their home computer.  I was beyond excited when they figured out  how to fix it.  We spent the entire afternoon working on the Child Center books and we are happy to announce everything balanced through August!

Meri did not come to work today.  She is huge and pregnant!  She said that her legs were hurting her so she did not feel like coming to work.  We think she should go to the doctor and tell them but she will probably not go.  Zorash said that they were thinking of asking us if she could take off work until after the baby was born so she could rest because she is so tired that all she does at work is sit and doze.  We told her that she is able to rest more when she comes to work than she would if she was at her house because she had 6 children of her own and her “rival” (sister-wife) I think has 5.  If she is at home she has to watch the kids, fetch firewood and water, cook, wash clothes and clean the house.  Most of these chores fall to her because she is the second wife and low man on the totem pole.  Zorash had to agree that sitting and talking to the mothers is very light work.  After the baby has been born Meri will get 3 months of paid leave time and then she will bring the baby to work with her until it is weaned.  Ghana allows women to bring their babies to work with them.  We see babies in almost all the offices we visit if women are working there.  It is nice that the Ghana government sees the importance of women taking care of their own children even in the workplace.

One of the very low weight babies came back this morning and we were so pleased that he had gained a significant amount of weight.  It is always nice to see the babies take off and put on weight.  The children are not in such bad shape right now because the farmers have started harvesting their crops and more food is available.

Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
