We spent the morning preparing the annual tax returns for all the workers, the Child Center and for us. We have to fill out a form even though we make no money in Ghana; we are volunteers and pay our income tax in the states. Several of our workers can’t read and write so it would be very difficult for them to fill out their tax returns if we did not help them. It is not really our responsibility to make sure their tax forms are filled out. It would sort of be like your boss filing your state and federal tax for you. They are ready for the workers to sign and or thumbprint when they come to work on Monday.
Zorash came to the mission house this morning to pick up the money to pay her hospital bill. She still does not feel good. The doctors do not know what is wrong with her so they did what they always do; they treated her for malaria and gave her 2 types of antibiotics and Omeprazole for her stomach. They did not give her all the IV medicine that they ordered so she brought it home. She had paid for it and she was not going to leave it at the hospital. What in the world she is going to do with IV medicine is beyond me. She said that she would take it back to the hospital next time she got sick.
Amama came to work this morning to make up for one of the days she was off last week. I was happy to see her; there was a sink full of dishes and some ironing that needed to be done. Mr. Iddrisu also came to work. Today is his day off and he needed a little extra money so he asked if he could work. He really wanted us to pay him all day which would have been like double pay. Sometimes we do that when he works on his days off but he has been fasting and we knew that there was no way he would work all morning and all afternoon. I told him that I would pay him if he actually worked in the afternoon and did not sit in the easy chair and sleep. After he considered it for a few minutes he said that he would be too weak to work in the afternoon so he just took his regular pay. Seriously they are useless when they are fasting
Red stopped by and we gave him the money to make the windows for the church at Niliyuundo. He should have them finished long before it is time for the monthly classes.
Hope you have a good day and thank you for the prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
