We got the grain for the weaning mix roasted today. It took all morning and part of the afternoon to finish it.  We will take it to the grinding mill tomorrow.  We made a double batch.

The guy that supplies our baby cereal called this morning and said that he was in town making deliveries; Steve rushed to town and bought several cases from him.   Steve pulled our last case and took it to the Child Center this morning.  It was perfect timing!  Steve also talked to the Nestles man about the formula; he said that the formula was still in Accra and it would be a few days before it made its way up to Tamale.  He said that they would bring it on to Yendi when it comes in.  Steve told him that we would be in Tamale on Friday and that if it was at their warehouse we could pick it up.  He will let Steve know when it gets to Tamale; at least it is in Ghana which is one step closer to us.

Red came to the mission house this afternoon to spray paint the metal roof on the paint shed.  The tin on that building is the type that will rust over time.  After we got the new roofs put on the 2 round houses it was glaring obvious that the paint shed’s roof was rusty.  He sprayed it with silver paint; it looks amazing!  Red had a hot job climbing around on that hot tin roof!  He had to use rags to keep his hands and knees from getting too hot.  It is a small building that Dad built over the septic tank; no need to let that cement slab go to waste; it made a perfect floor for the paint shed.  We also keep outside tools in the shed and a small fridge so the workers can have cold water to drink.

Donkey told us that the motor king gate at the back of the property near his house is falling apart.  That whole gate annoys us!  The mason hung the gate hinges upside down which meant he hung the gate upside down too which in turn makes the gate hard to open and causes all the pipes that the gate is made out of to catch water when it rains.  The rain in turn rusted the pipes which caused the gate to fall apart!  While Red was here we had him look at the gate; he said that it would be very difficult to repair it because it was not hung correctly so he is going to build a new gate.  He took the measurements today and will start working on it tomorrow.

The mother that we sent to the hospital with the baby that was obviously mentally delayed and had no use of his arms or legs and could not hold up his head or sit and was plenty old enough to do both called Zorash and told her that the doctor at the hospital told her that nothing was wrong with the baby except that he needed to eat more!  Excuse me!  We do not agree with that diagnosis.

Enjoy your day!

The Monkeyshines

You will never believe what I learned to do today!   I learned to open the back door all by myself!  Not only can I open the door but I can open the door and go into the house without assistance.  Not only can I open the door and go in by myself I can get my long tail in without it getting caught in the door.  Once I learned how to get in the house I did it over and over.  I am such a clever monkey!  Aren’t you proud of me?  The parents and the ladies that work at the Child Center were roasting corn today and I hated the sound of the machine so when they turned on the machine I quickly opened the door and went inside where I was safe.  I am sure that if I had stayed outside that machine would have grabbed me and roasted me along with the corn!

I had to go to time out once today!  Dad and I were playing and something annoyed me and I got too rough with Dad and before I knew it I was inside the box.  Mom came in the room about that time and asked what I did; Dad said he was not sure why I got annoyed with him but I threw one of my fits and I had to be put in time out!  Mom and Dad then left the room!  I was so upset; I hate to be left alone more than I hate that time out box!  I cried and cried!  When I got out I was much better.  A couple times today I thought about biting Mom and put my mouth on her.  She asked, “Are you biting me?  No biting!  I will put you in time out if you bite me!”  I knew she meant business!  The first time I took my mouth off her and rolled over for a tummy rub.  The second time I climbed up under her chin and gave her monkey kisses; she cannot resist monkey kisses!

Please don’t put locks on the doors!
