Dawda, the mason, started making the gutter in the front of the Child Center. He had not been digging very long before he hit a water line and flooded the area he was working. We did not know what the line was feeding, only that all our precious rain water was flowing out of the poly tank. Steve cut off all the lines that feed the tank and the water stopped. They then needed to figure out where the water was coming from so they started digging up the yard tracing the water lines. In the midst of digging Mr. Iddrisu called and said that he could not get the motor king to start; he was in the back field with a load of sand. Steve jump started the green pickup because its battery was dead and went to the back field with a rope so he could pull the motor king and get it started. Forty-five minutes later the motor king came back up to the mission house and it was running by itself. It ran for the rest of the day without any problem; maybe it was flooded.
Shortly before lunch Zorash and I took the grain to the grinding mill and had it ground into weaning mix. This time we used yellow field corn and it made a beautiful batch of weaning mix. Another lady was at the grinding mill; she was grinding soybeans to make soybean kabobs. When we left the grinding mill we went into town to see the lady that sells fabric that is actually seconds. She had called Zorash a couple days ago and told her that she had gotten a new batch of fabric. Usually the fabric is 2 yard lengths that have been pieced together but today we found several 4 yard pieces that were full lengths. On our way to check out the fabric we stopped at the Land’s Commission office. When we were there yesterday the engineer needed a red pen to complete some of his work but he did not have a red pen. He had to ask several people before he found a red pen and the guy that owned the pen made it very clear that he could only use the pen for a few minutes because he needed it back. When we left the office we went to town and bought a full box of red pens; while we were out this morning we stopped and gave the pens to the engineer! He was very happy with the gift and could not stop laughing!
Dawda the mason said that we needed to hire the man that cuts holes in cement to come and open a hole in the cement wall and the gutter on the outside of the wall so we could connect the new gutter to the old gutter and get all the water away from the Child Center. He is also the guy that cut the fire blight out of the big mango trees so while he was here we had him climb the tree and cut out a few more branches; might as well kill 2 birds with one stone.
Red did not have any success getting the door latch for the back of Paul’s truck fixed so he is going to go to “Plan B” and order one from the junk yard in Kumasi. Red has a friend there that is supposed to be able to get one.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In HIS Service,
Steve and Kandie
