We arrived at the village of Jakpumba around 9:45 this morning. They were lucky to have a big rain yesterday. There was a lot of standing water in the ditches along the road. This was the second rain they had received this year.  The tractors were on the move around the village.

I delivered a lesson to encourage the congregation as was requested by one of the church leaders with emphasis on service attendance.  There were 6 women, 11 men and 37 children present for services.  Several weeks ago we passed through this village on our way to the nearby village of Niliyuundo. We had already dropped off the gifts we usually give the congregations that we visit.  It had been a long time since we last visited this village so we wanted them to know we were still thinking about them.

We were pleased to see they had been using the felt story boards that had been sent over with us to give for the children’s classes.   I also noticed the rain that falls off the tin roof had caused a lot of erosion at the base of the church building.  After services were over the men came to Timothy and I requesting help with their building.   After some palavering I agreed to give the congregation money to purchase some bags of cement and they in turn would supply the gravel and workmanship to get the job done. The men were happy with the arrangement.

Several of the men traveled over to the chief’s house with us to greet him.  He was happy to see us. He asked that we pray for him because his feet were bothering him. We could see his feet were swollen.  We advised him to put his feet up and reduce his salt intake.

One church member’s house is a stone’s throw away from the chief’s house. He requested prayers for his wife. He explained she had been bitten by a snake.  The victim said she had rolled over on the snake in her room several nights ago. What a surprise! I was glad to see the site of the bite didn’t look rough. They showed us a black snake that was about 15 inches long. They said it was a baby cobra.   The lady was pleased we came to see her and pray for her.

The church gave us eight yams and some guinea eggs before we left. Timothy will enjoy both items.

A shout out to all the Mother’s being honored on this day.  May God bless you all!

Have a great Lord’s Day!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
