YENDI NOTES MONTHLY

January – February 2021

Another year has rolled around again and it is time for me and Kandie to return to Yendi and resume the work. The pandemic limits the way we work in the Yendi area; it seems that other missionaries around the world are facing similar limitations. Below is a brief rundown of our work.

The pandemic is still causing problems in Ghana. At the time of this report 607 deaths have been attributed to the virus. The government has started a vaccination program which is good news. In February the rise in cases prompted the President of Ghana to invoke stricter restrictions on group meetings.

During the early part of January I (Stephen) contracted a mild case of the coronavirus. Strangely, Kandie didn’t have any symptoms. Later we were tested for Coronavirus antibodies; I had antibodies but Kandie did not.  Thankfully Kandie was able to get vaccinated.

In February Timothy Niligrini informed us that his aged father had passed away. His father had not been in good health for some time but the loss is still difficult. We sent money via Western Union to help with the funeral. His father was not a member of the church; he was a pagan but three of his sons are members of the Lord’s church. The church was given the responsibly of holding the funeral. Thanks go out to our supporters that provide us money for such an occasion.

Timothy continues to hold the monthly leadership class. In January twenty men attended and they reported twelve people were baptized and two restored. February’s class had twenty-two attending with a report of twelve restorations and fourteen baptisms. Isn’t that great!

Lord willing Kandie and I will be leaving for Ghana on March 8th. The biggest hurdle we have encountered is the requirement of getting the results for a PCR Coronavirus test 72 hours or less from the time we board the plane in Huntsville. Our problem is March 8th is a Monday and many labs are not open on the weekend. We found a clinic in Birmingham that has 24 hour test results. We will get the test on Friday afternoon the 5th. We are scheduled for the last appointment of the day. Hopefully we will get the results backin time to fly on Monday. Please keep us in your prayers! The Lord has been good to us; we are anxious to get back to Ghana and continue the work.

We were saddened to get the news that Kandie’s Aunt Betty Jean Pepper from Lubbock, Texas passed away on March 1st. Aunt Betty Jean has been a long time supporter of the work in Yendi. She was the last matriarch of the Verrett family that had immigrated from Italy. She was Kandie’s late father Royce Reynolds aunt. Aunt Betty Jean was a faithful member of the Lord’s church. Our sympathy goes out to her two sons; Kelly and Carl and their families. Please keep them in your prayers.

In His service,

Stephen & Kandie Taylor
